With the coming of Covid-19, and the eternity I spent waiting for my law license, I found myself completely immersed in all things True Crime. This is not particularly new for me, but Corona provided me a convenient excuse.
One of the many documentaries I poured over was The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Admittedly, I hadn’t heard of the case despite its global coverage. As I finished the doc., I needed to know more. Now, after 13 years, there’s been a significant amount of movement.
On July 13, it was reported that police were searching more than 20 abandoned wells around the area of McCann’s disappearance in search of her remains.
Now, German police have searched an empty lot that contains a sealed cellar. Above the cellar once stood a small wooden shack. The lot was rented by a pedophile around the time of Madeleine’s disappearance. The pedo is Christian Brueckner, a main suspect in McCann’s disappearance who lived in and worked in the area where she disappeared, and who is currently imprisoned in Germany. It was further reported that Police were seen carrying an evidence bag and a child’s toy bucket from the scene of the search.
Madeleine went missing from her bed in a rented apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007 while her parents and family friends were at a nearby tapas restaurant. She was four years old. Her case is still classified as a missing-persons case.
